Nature has always been my greatest inspiration, and in this subseries of my Wavelength Rhythm paintings, which I call Botanical Rhythms, I get to explore the endless beautiful patterns found in plants and flowers. This particular painting is my abstract response to a tropical jungle shore, with rows of blue waves that deepen in color as they recede from the beach. Interference Orange paint was used on the “sand” that will “flip” to blue, its complement, when the painting is viewed in real life. The effect is almost impossible to capture in a photo.

As I create shapes with my special acrylic medium, the pattern that emerges is influenced by the music I am listening to.

Life is made up of wavelengths, after all.

The identifying number of this painting is 2016DAWR046BR.

It measures 12″ by 12″ and is first richly textured, then painted on a panel with highest-quality acrylic mediums and pigments. The jungle area of this painting called for a very wet-into-wet approach, resulting in many impossible-to-imitate watercolor effects.

Please remember that everyone’s monitor or device shows the color differently. You can see in these photos how the light changes the paintings!

This is an original, one-of-a-kind painting by Donna McVicar Kazo, copyright 2016. It, and these photos, may not be reproduced in any form without her express written permission.
