When an artist decides to work in a series, she or he is embarking on an adventure, a quest into both the known and the unknown. I didn’t know, for example, that I was so intrigued by tidepools until I was well into my Dimensional Abstracts series. I realized I could make good use of my acrylics to bring forth this new love. So the “rocks” were built up with gels and gesso and the “pool” left in a circular shape in the center. I painted its bottom with “Interference Blue” and after painting the “rocks” with a variety of pigments in a wet wash, letting them flow and settle according to their particle size, the “pool” was poured with another gel and then colors were marbled in it. The result allows you to look into the pool and catch a glimpse of the shimmering bottom color. I’ll be doing this again, and also just trying out different expressions of the circle-in-the square as I go along.
As I create the shapes with my special acrylic medium, the pattern that emerges usually has something to do with the music I am listening to.
Life is made up of wavelengths, after all.
The identifying number of this painting is 2016DAWR035CS.
It measures 12″ by 12″ and was first richly textured with my special medium, then painted on a panel with highest-quality acrylic mediums and pigments. My techniques include pouring, squirting, brushing, wiping, dabbing and watching the paint flow through the textures I made: messy but the result is worth it…and which is why each painting is utterly unique.
Like all of the paintings in this series, it can be enjoyed from any direction, and it comes framed with sawtooth hangers that let you choose what way it will hang on your wall. It looks good in the classic black or natural wood finishes you see here, and in a white frame as well. It’s your choice! After purchase of painting, please then email us at adiona (at) yahoo.com to let us know of your frame selection.
$375 includes professional quality framing and FREE shipping (but at this time we only ship to the lower 48 states, sorry).
Sales tax is extra.
Please remember that everyone’s monitor or device shows the color differently. You can see in these photos how the light changes the paintings!
